We had a warm greeting from the friends Sunday afternoon; as we approached the Chapel a group stood outside to welcome us back again. The work has gone on ever since we were here last, and the converts seem to be bright and happy. The Chapel was quite full last night again and Schoolroom.'1 February 15th.--They began a Mission at Oakham, where they stayed for a month. They deeply felt this work laid upon their hearts, and it was entirely undertaken on their own responsibility. But the Door of Difficulty was before them, "there were many adversaries." This did but lead Mrs. Bass to the Kock higher than herself; everything she did was laid before God in prayer. She writes: --"Had our first meeting at Oakham last night; we begin in the Agricultural Hall next week. It is making quite a sensation here; people are surprised at our success, as they term it. We are not a bit satisfied until God's power comes down on the town. We get all the time in prayer we can; many, many hours we have had with God since we came here. 'He will bless us.' Flesh and blood would quit Oakham for ever, but faith." Then came a few words of personal experience and explanation, touchingly humble. "We have both felt the need in increased measure of the baptism of power. It is only by power that it has been given us to seek it earnestly and humbly. It came on me before I began public work; that made me do it; but it has been renewed also to me in answer to waiting on God."
